Aesthetic Practitioner Mentoring & Shadowing
Contact us about a treatment
MBNS Shadowing & Mentoring has arrived!
Entering medical aesthetics as an independent practitioner can be daunting. Not only are you learning new practitioner techniques and acquiring new knowledge, you may be starting a business for the first time too. MBNS Aesthetic Practitioner Mentoring will support your learning and development as you encounter this next step in your professional life. We will act as your sounding board and really listen to you. All communication is treated in the strictest confidence.
Medical Aesthetic Practitioner Shadowing is a program for prospective or novice aesthetic practitioners to find out what it is like to work with a busy, expert-all round practitioner. The novice aesthetic nurse practitioner will observe wrinkle relaxant injections and treatment plans as well as dermal filling injections. Micro-sclerotherapy and laser/intense pulsed light treatments as well as advanced skin peels may also be possible to observe depending on the treatment list on the day.
The practitioner shadowing experience at MBNS will give a broad insight into best practice, as well as exceptional internal marketing/customer service and client retention strategies.
Medical Aesthetic Practitioner Mentoring.
You have probably been mentored by someone in your life already! Many of us may have been helped by someone who took an interest in our welfare or shared their experiences and knowledge to help us develop. This is especially important if you are entering a new specialty. The MBNS mentor will help support your learning in your newly chosen field of practice. This is of paramount importance if you are a lone practitioner.
Who can be accepted for Aesthetic Mentoring and Practitioner Shadowing at MBNS?
- UK Registered Medical Doctors
- UK Registered Nurses
- UK Registered Dentists
- Practitioners from a 50 mile radius of Thame will not be able to join this Programme.
Why would you need a mentor?
If you have already completed an independent
injection technique training course for which
you gained a certificate, MBNS can then be
approached via email or telephone to provide
a four to six hour clinic day of "shadowing" in
our Thame Clinic. This has proven to
be an excellent means to answer questions that
arise after training and to reinforce the information
provided to you, after you have had a preliminary
insight into medical aesthetics practitioner
skills.
MBNS practitioners will be available to provide Mentorship for questions and
support for six months following the original shadow-visit, both via email and
over the phone. A contract will be entered into between Mentee and Mentor
to formalise the service.
We have three Aesthetic Nurse Specialists acting as Mentors at our clinic in Thame:
Marea Brennan Thorns RN
is a Nurse Independent Prescriber and is currently studying part time in Management and Leadership in Health at Masters’ level at Oxford Brookes University. She has worked in nursing for over 32 years as an active clinician and educator. Marea is a pioneer in the field of medical aesthetics, an industry she has been a part of since 1996. This coupled with her extensive all-round knowledge of medical aesthetic treatments as well as business building and nurse-led clinics means that she is a very familiar face at professional education seminars where she may be a key note speaker or conference chair. She is often asked by the media to provide a broadly developed educated opinion in this ever growing industry.
She is a founding member and former chair of the RCN’s forum for nurses working in aesthetic medicine. She was a member of the steering group responsible for the development and publication of Aesthetic Nursing Competencies now available at the RCN. These competencies now form the basis for the diploma in aesthetic medicine now offered at Greenwich University. Marea is also an injection technique Validator for Allergan’s VISTABEL®
Stephanie Green RN
is a co founder of MBNS and has over 29 years experience in general nursing as well as aesthetic nursing. Stephanie, is also a Validator in injection techniques with Allergan. There are only 16 Validators in the country, and MBNS have two in their clinic! She is an independent trainer in cosmetic injections for various dermal filler companies. Stephanie’s unique ability to provide natural looking results to her patients, keeps her patient lists extremely busy, her clinic full and this would give you an unequaled view of how nursing looks at the top of the aesthetic ladder. She is also a founding member of the RCN’s forum for nurses working in aesthetic medicine and acted as a key support colleague to the steering group when it was writing the aesthetic nursing competencies.
Paula Shurrock RN
is the third member of the MBNS practitioner team. Paula brings to the forefront, 24 years in general nursing and 8 years as an experienced injector and this coupled with a very natural and relaxing persona enables Paula to be shadowed and be a great Mentor to all potential Mentees. Paula’s demeanor is one which candidates will find informative and comforting with a very easy and encouraging style. Paula was one of the first nurses to put herself forward for the Allergan VISTABEL® Validation Programme. She prepared ten extensive patient case studies with photography showing treatment rationale and underwent a one hour written examination and scored 96%. This was a very high score, and she is more than happy to steer any Mentee on the correct course to be audited and be accountable for their treatment decisions using evidenced based medicine.
Anne Devenport
is the Shadowing and Mentor coordinator; she has a degree in Marketing and Sales Management and has worked with MBNS for two years. She is responsible for Marketing and Sales administration. You can reach her on the clinic number 01844 213007 and email anne@mbnsclinic.co.uk
