Now, Allergan the makers of BOTOX® have added VISTABEL® to their range; it is the only licensed Botulinum Toxin for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Although VISTABEL® is a new name, the purified protein it contains has been used in clinical practice under the name of BOTOX® for more than 10 years. What is VISTABEL®/ BOTOX® and how does it work?
VISTABEL®/BOTOX® contains a specially prepared naturally occurring protein that originates from bacteria. It should only be injected by an experienced injector who can make sure that the correct amount is injected in precisely the right places. In this way the desired result with a natural look can be achieved. It works by blocking the nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of the muscles, that cause wrinkles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out, and the frown lines between your brows begin to fade.
What is the treatment like? Where can I have it done?
At MBNS, you will receive your consultation and treatment by experienced aesthetic nurse specialists. Before your first treatment you will have to be assessed and if appropriate, have your VISTABEL®/ BOTOX® prescribed by our prescribing nurse or our practice doctor. You can be reassured that the nurse specialists at MBNS are some of the most experienced and sought after cosmetic injector-practitioners in the country.
Specially trained doctors and nurses can administer VISTABEL®/ BOTOX®, and over the next 12 months it is anticipated that the premises where these treatments are carried out will need to be registered with the Healthcare Commission as being fit for purpose. The MBNS Clinic is already registered with the Healthcare Commission as a provider of laser / light treatments.
How soon will I see a difference?
What kind of results can I expect?
You can expect to see results within 2-14 days after your treatment. Frown lines will look more relaxed and softened. We aim to provide natural looking treatments. Visible results can last from three to six months. After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up maintenance treatment. With repeated treatments, performed before the full effect has worn off, most people will find that results will last longer over time. Duration of results will depend on your facial expressions.
How soon will I need a second treatment? What happens if I decide not to continue?
Treatments in the first year tend to last three to four months. MBNS will be able to offer you your next appointment before you leave in order to ensure that you are able to keep the appearance you want. If you decide not to continue with VISTABEL®/ BOTOX®, the area between your brows will eventually go back to its pre-treatment appearance.
